🎨 QR Code Features
What types of QR codes can I create?
GoCreateQR supports multiple QR code types:
- Links: Websites, email addresses (mailto:), phone numbers (tel:)
- Locations: Google Maps URLs and other map services
- Contacts: vCard and MECARD formats with full contact information
- WiFi: Network credentials for instant WiFi connection
Can I customize QR code colors?
Yes! Use our Advanced Settings to customize foreground and background colors. We offer 8 pre-designed color templates (Classic, Tech Blue, Vibrant Purple, etc.) or create your own custom colors. Our built-in contrast validator ensures your QR code will scan properly.
What's the difference between PNG and SVG downloads?
- PNG: Raster image format, perfect for digital sharing, social media, and quick use. Fixed resolution.
- SVG: Vector format, infinitely scalable without quality loss. Ideal for printing, large displays, and professional design work.
What are error correction levels?
Error correction allows QR codes to be scanned even if partially damaged or obscured:
- L (Low): ~7% correction - smaller QR codes, clean environments
- M (Medium): ~15% correction - balanced option
- Q (High - Recommended): ~25% correction - good balance of size and reliability
- H (Highest): ~30% correction - maximum reliability, larger QR codes
📱 Usage & Scanning
Do QR codes expire or have limits?
No! GoCreateQR generates static QR codes that never expire. There are no scan limits, tracking, or subscription requirements. Once downloaded, your QR code works forever, completely offline.
How do I scan a QR code?
Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes natively:
- iPhone: Open Camera app, point at QR code, tap notification
- Android: Open Camera or Google Lens, point at QR code
- Alternative: Download a dedicated QR scanner app from your app store
Can I use QR codes commercially?
Yes! You own all QR codes you create and can use them for any purpose - personal, commercial, marketing, products, etc. No attribution required, though we appreciate it!
My QR code won't scan. What's wrong?
Common scanning issues and solutions:
- Low contrast: Use our contrast validator to ensure foreground/background colors have sufficient contrast (minimum 3:1, recommended 7:1)
- Too small: Ensure QR code is at least 2x2 cm (0.8x0.8 inches) when printed
- Damaged/distorted: Increase error correction level to H (Highest)
- Poor lighting: Scan in well-lit conditions
- Wrong data: Double-check your input data is correct and complete
🔒 Privacy & Security
Is my data safe? Do you store my information?
We do NOT store any of your QR code data, URLs, contact information, WiFi passwords, or any content you input. QR codes are generated in real-time and sent directly to your browser. No database storage, no logs, complete privacy. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can you track how many times my QR code is scanned?
No. GoCreateQR generates static QR codes that work completely offline. We have no way to track scans, analytics, or usage. This ensures maximum privacy but means scan tracking isn't available.
Is it safe to share WiFi QR codes?
WiFi QR codes are convenient but contain your network password in plain text. Only share WiFi QR codes with trusted individuals (guests, family, employees). Avoid posting WiFi QR codes publicly. Your WiFi password is never stored on our servers.
⚙️ Technical Questions
What's the difference between vCard and MECARD formats?
- vCard (Recommended): More widely supported, includes full contact details (organization, address, title, etc.), works with all modern smartphones
- MECARD: Simpler format, smaller QR codes, limited fields, better for basic contact info
Can I edit a QR code after creating it?
Static QR codes (like those from GoCreateQR) cannot be edited after creation. The data is permanently encoded in the image. To change content, generate a new QR code. This is a feature, not a bug - it ensures your QR codes work forever without depending on any service.
What size should I print my QR code?
Recommended minimum sizes:
- Business cards: 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 in)
- Flyers/posters: 3 x 3 cm (1.2 x 1.2 in)
- Billboards: Scale proportionally to viewing distance
- General rule: Larger is better for scanning reliability. Use SVG format for printing!
Why is the SVG download useful?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is resolution-independent, meaning you can scale it to any size without quality loss. Perfect for professional printing (business cards, posters, billboards), design software (Adobe Illustrator, Figma), and situations where you need maximum quality.
